The Town Clerk's Department, also known as the Chief
Executive's Department, is actually headed by the Chief Executive, who is responsible for
the overall affairs of the Council. The latter is assisted by a Deputy Chief Executive and
two Assistant Chief Executives. The Department's main activities consists of co-ordinating
the activities of all the other departments and see to it that the decisions taken by the
Council are implemented.

Committee and Registry
Human Resources Development
Information Service Centre
The department is also responsible for the
International Affairs of the Council which is twinned with several capitals throughout the
world and is member of various international institutions, viz AVCOI (Association des
Villes de l'Ocean Indien), AULA(African Union of Local Authorities), IULA( International
Union of Local Authorities), AIMF (Association Internationales des Maires Francophones).
Visits of foreign delegations and other high dignitaries to the Council are being taken
care by the Department.
