Public Health Department

1. The Sanitation Section provides the following services:

·         Removal of domestic and trade refuse, and sweeping of roads.

·         Cleaning of drains, streams and rivulets.

·         Sweeping of canal banks.

·         Weeding and mowing of grass, and spraying of herbicides

·         Chopping of overhanging vegetations and trimming of bushes.

·         Removal of refuse from wastelands, state lands, municipal properties, rivers and canals.

·         Receiving complaints from citizens of Port Louis and the general public (Telephone Number: 4056600 ext 1606).

·         Monitoring of payment of trade refuse fees.

·         Attending complaints regarding scavenging service

·         Rodent Control

2. Frequency of service

·         A thrice weekly service/ collection of refuse is provided throughout the City of Port Louis

·         A twice daily scavenging service is being provided to traffic centres and city center.

·         A twice weekly service is provided at Pointe Aux Sables region.
