Human Resources Development Section |
 |
Everything falling within the scope of Human
Resources Management is taken care of by this section headed by the Human Resources
Development Officer.
Thus appointments, promotions, training, retirement
of about 1800 employees are dealt by the section. Through the years, the Council's labour
force has become the biggest of all the Councils in the Local Government sector in
Mauritius and this is obvious in view of the size of the Municipal Council and the fact
that the town of Port-Louis is the busiest town in Mauritius.
The Municipal Council is a Local Authority and, as
other local authorities, it is governed by the Local Government Act 2003. A Local
Government Service Commission is, however, responsible for the appointment, promotion and
for any other matter concerning discipline of the officers.
To ensure quality of services, customer care and
excellence, the Municipal Council has an inhouse training program for its labour force. |
