The Works Department is leaded by the Head, Works Department, who is responsible to the Chief Executive for:

• The overall administration and management and discipline of staff of the Department.
  
  

• Advising the Council on engineering matters and for implementation of its decision.
  
  

• Implementation and application of the Building Act, the Town and Country Planning Act, the Road Act and the Local Government Act.
  
  

• Representing the Municipal Council on Boards and Committees.
  

The Works Department consists of the following sections :
